About Mystery: 

Mystery helps people connect to experiences in a new way. By removing all the planning, indecision and fear of failure that comes with planning a night out, Mystery allows its customers to just focus on having fun. 

Currently Mystery has two main product lines. The ‘Classic’ Mystery product is a technology service that uses human-in-the-loop matching to create a curated outing based on a customer’s preferences and price point. Aside from the necessary basic information, Mystery provides limited details on the itinerary - all in an effort to constantly surprise and delight their customers. 

With the onset of the coronavirus, Mystery developed a ‘Night In’ experience that allows customers to experience Mystery from the comfort of their own home, all while supporting local businesses! The ‘Night In’ experience includes dinner for two, together with a range of surprise activities and wares from local providers. 

Mystery has recently launched ‘Night In’ in Austin, and will shortly be introducing the ‘Classic’ Mystery product. Come join a team that’s bringing novelty and excitement to people’s lives!

About You:

You’re looking to join an early stage startup where you’ll work with a close knit team of smart people to shape and scale products that customers love. Although you can expect to do a lot of different things at Mystery, as our first team member in Austin you’ll play a key role in curating and overseeing the execution of experiences that surprise and delight our customers. This role demands strong interpersonal skills, creativity, operational rigor, and the ability to think on your feet. 

Ideal candidates will possess a strong sense of ownership and will relish the challenge of creating a business from the ground up, no matter what it takes. 

Example responsibilities:

  • Assist with the launch and development of Mystery’s “Night In” and “Classic” products
  • Work with Mystery HQ to identify potential local partners i.e. activities & restaurants
  • Partner cross functionally with teams at  Mystery HQ to ensure growth needs are met
  • Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of local partners 
  • Take the lead with inventory management and assembly of “Night In” boxes
  • Monitor live operations for both “Night In” and “Classic” products 
  • Assist in management of local customer service issues

Your Skills & Experience:

  • Passionate about delighting customers
  • Comfortable working autonomously with a remote team
  • Knowledgeable about Austin and what’s going on there
  • Experience working in a fast-paced operations environment
  • Proven ability to multitask whilst maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Problem solver mindset able to adapt quickly in an early stage startup environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of ownership and you take pride in your work
  • Demonstrated ability for problem solving judgement under pressure 
  • Data driven mentality - spreadsheet skills required, ideally experience with SQL
  • Humble and not shy of any task required to keep the business moving forward
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
